This collaborative work by four artists employs the symbols of flowers and wings to reflect core teachings of Buddhism.

  • Flowers symbolize ephemeral beauty (lokiya) — the charm of form, taste, scent, sound, and touch, all subject to change and disappearance. Their fleeting nature reminds us of the truth of the Three Marks of Existence: impermanence, unsatisfactoriness, and non-self.
  • Wings symbolize eternal freedom (lokuttara) — the transcendence of attachment, soaring beyond the bonds of desire. They represent wisdom leading to ultimate liberation: vimutti.

The integration of flowers and wings in the composition expresses the coexistence of the worldly (lokiya) and the transcendent (lokuttara). Those who perceive phenomena as they truly are awaken to the danger of clinging to sensory pleasures, transcend delusion, and progress toward understanding—ultimately realizing the Noble Path to Nibbāna.
